Gadget Morphée's "Zen" that triples the relaxing effect, about 9250 yen

As a journalist and investor, I'm always a little skeptical of ultra-niche companies with only a single product. There are many things that go wrong, and one way consumer direct trading brands work is because they have the power to cross-sell (sell related products) to their customers.

Morphée was one such brand. The company's first launch was a frankly humorously over-designed (but surprisingly beautiful) $ 99 non-digital sleep and meditation product. After that, the company, which added products for children, also announced a new product called "Morphée Zen" at this CES. This is a relaxation device for travel, like a small round stone.

The company describes Morphée Zen as a "relaxation pebble", an ultra-portable device that looks like a pebble, specializing in soothing sounds, music and voice therapies for mental wellness training and sleep. You can receive (listen to) a relaxation session. Seventy-two voice sessions based on six themes, including dynamic relaxation and deep relaxation, include natural sounds, relaxing music, and a two-minute "instant relief" to make your heart rate more manageable. Sessions are also available.

Of course, the real problem here is that Morphée may have expanded the brand just a little too much. Certainly it may make sense to give "My Little Morphée" away from the children, and the original Morphée is both a meditation device and a work of art.

However, you can use a meditation app like "Calm" for $ 69.99 a year, and meditation and sleep-introducing sounds everywhere you can imagine, such as Spotify and YouTube. It seems to me that Morphée Zen doesn't make much sense in this world of almost endless offerings of music to help you focus. Do we really need a product that can do basically the same thing with a pure software solution, but will sooner or later end up in a landfill somewhere?

The product is scheduled to go on sale in the third quarter of 2022 and is priced at $ 79.99.
